Speeches!!!

This term is speech term.  We have a range of topics to choose from. This year is a bit of a change because you can choose if you want to go competitive or non-competitive. I chose "Trust me with our future". Some of the lines you may not understand but that is because I would have said it in the correct way. Also, I put my speech on little cards so I can read it upon the stage.  Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

My Speech



Trust me with our future. Trust me with our future? Trust me with our future? Should you trust me with our future? Yes, no, maybe? Why should I be given the job to change the future as we know it? I actually cannot save the world but we can do something about it, together. If we can’t actually save the world, we need to recreate it, together. We must.

Around the world, catastrophic occurrences are happening before our very own eyes, without us knowing.  There is a range of things, starting with the plastic floating in the ocean, animals suffering, global warming and the climate changing around us. If you don't believe me then how does this sound:

First of all, 160,000 plastic bags are used globally every second. Plus 5 trillion plastic bags are produced yearly.

Secondly, over 115 million animals – mice, rats, dogs, cats, rabbits, monkeys, birds, among others – are killed in laboratory experiments worldwide for chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics testing every year.

Finally, there has been a 30% increase in acidity in the world's oceans moreover there have been people already suffering the consequences of climate change. Around 22.5 million people were killed by climate or weather-related disasters between 2008 and 2015.

Now, do you get it? You may not see this in our own backyard, however, it is happening.  This is what we must recognize before it's too late. Because the real crisis is not global warming, plastic pollution, animals extinct nor animal agriculture. It is us. These problems are symptoms of us, byproducts of us. Our inner reflection, loss of connection has created this misdirection.

So, Fox News, if you don't think climate change is a threat, I dare you to interview the thousands of homeless people in Bangladesh. See, while you were in your mansion nestled, their homes were literally washed away beneath their feet due to the rising sea levels. And Sarah Palin, you said that you love the smell of fossil fuels. Well, I urge you to talk to the kids of Beijing who are forced to wear pollution masks just to go to school. See, you can ignore this, but the thing about truth is, it can be denied, not avoided.

Do you know why I am telling you about the damage done to the Earth? It’s because this is our future. Scientists are making predictions already, about our future. At the 2017 Global Warming Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, USA - scientists speeches were about the world of plastic. The world of plastic pollution was just a prediction, but very, very soon, this prediction will be our reality.

So don’t trust me with our future - it is our future, not my future. Therefore it is up to all of us to take hold, take charge and do something about it. It would take a miracle to "recreate" this world. It has been said that something as small as the flutter of a butterfly's wing can cause a typhoon halfway around the world. Well, when enough people come together, we too will make waves, and wash the world into a new era, of love and connection. The world is dying a miserable death. The future to a new beginning starts within you.
